About GroceryWise

GroceryWise is a free Australian web app that compares this week's specials at Coles, Woolworths and Aldi. We exist to make one thing easy: seeing what's on half-price right now at all three supermarkets, side by side, without scrolling through three different catalogues.

What we do

Every Wednesday morning AEST, we pull in the published weekly catalogues from Coles, Woolworths and Aldi. We refresh Aldi a second time on Saturday morning to catch the mid-week Aldi Special Buys drop. The same dataset that powers our retailer pages also powers the weekly half-price digest that lands in your inbox if you subscribe.

That's the whole product surface today. There is no account, no login, no shopping history, no personalised ranking. You open the site, pick a retailer, look at what's cheap this week. If you want a one-paragraph weekly recap, sign up for the digest at the bottom of any page.

Why we built it

The cheapest groceries in Australia are split across Coles, Woolworths and Aldi every week, and the prices move. The big two publish a fresh weekly catalogue every Wednesday; Aldi runs Super Savers on a similar cadence plus Special Buys on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A household that splits the shop across at least two of the three usually saves $60–$120 a week compared with single-store loyalty.

The problem isn't the savings — they're real. The problem is the time it takes to see them: three catalogue PDFs, three websites, three apps, none of them aligned. GroceryWise solves the seeing part so you can spend the time on the deciding part.

What we don't do

  • We don't collect personal data. There is no account system, no login, and no shopping-history profile.
  • We don't take affiliate kickbacks. Outbound links to Coles, Woolworths and Aldi pass through unchanged, with no rewrite and no commission in the chain.
  • We don't hand-curate. Every product visible on a retailer page came directly from that retailer's published catalogue — we don't re-rank, hide, or promote items.
  • We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Coles Supermarkets, Woolworths Group, or ALDI Stores Australia. GroceryWise is independent.

Who's behind it

GroceryWise is built and maintained by Nagen Yadav, a Melbourne-based founder with several shipped consumer apps. The product, the data pipelines and the editorial are all hands-on: when you read a price on this site, it came from an importer Nagen wrote and maintains himself. The methodology page documents the full pipeline end to end.

What's next

Two surfaces are in active development. The first is an AI grocery shopper that takes this week's specials and assembles the cheapest possible basket for your household automatically, so you don't have to click between three retailer pages. We're targeting a 3–6 month window for the AI shopper.

The second is a Chrome extension that surfaces GroceryWise prices inline while you're shopping on the Coles, Woolworths or Aldi sites — so the comparison happens where you already are, without switching tabs. The Chrome extension is further out. The fastest way to hear about either is the weekly best buys digest, which we send every Wednesday morning AEST.
